With three months remaining in 2022, nearly $1 billion in land has already been sold this year.
The largest land deals in the region in 2022 — broken down into the top three per each of the nine counties in the Business Observer’s coverage area — represent $900 million in transaction volume and 2,900 acres, according to an analysis of county property data.
Three deals surpassed $60 million, and a fourth was for $59.17 million. The trio of $60 million deals weren't in what’s been in the hot land zones, like Sarasota, Hillsborough or Pinellas counties, but instead in Collier, Pasco and Manatee counties. Fast-growing Manatee County is a land-deal leader in the region in 2022, data shows, with $185.18 million in sales volume.
Also notable is Miami-based Lennar, one of the largest homebuilders in the country, is, to some extent, selling land: It sold a site in Bradenton for $56 million, Naples for $41 million and Pasco County for $20 million. Other Lennar sales were recorded in several counties for prices lower than the top three.
